What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Orange Beach, Alabama for the first time?

Romar Marina was very nice. All of the fisherman we talked to were very friendly. We parked in the shade under the boat storage.

Be prepared for a bit of a boat ride and be ready when they say drop your bait, paying attention to the depth that you are instructed.

3-6 hour trips probably aren’t suitable for seasoned offshore anglers. Those guys need to go out further and longer. If you’re looking for lots of action though, snapper in June is for you.

We fished right after a series of storms moved through the area, seas were rough but the fishing was well above standard.

The boats seem small at first but they are perfect for the fishing we did. I did not expect to catch as many fish as we did honestly.

Expect some chop and swales. If sensitive to motion sickness plan ahead. We fished with a great Captain (Charlie of Southern Sun) who is extremely knowledgeable and experienced!

Orange Beach is great! The people are very friendly and the beaches are the best in the US small town vibes!!

Definitely go for at least a 6 hour trip, and invest in some seasickness glasses before the trip. The Captain loaned us a pair that saved the day for one of our group

We booked a 3 hour beginner trip, but the time went so fast, we all wished we had more time...even though we did catch fish.

Keep and open mind - you are not guaranteed to catch fish, but the experience is fun nevertheless.

Orange beach is a great place to wet a line and captain Lee is a great guide, I’m a guide myself ( crappie) and I highly recommend his service

If you’re after a specific fish (and/or especially keeping them), be mindful of the seasonality and government mandates on releasing of certain species (e.g.red snapper).

March can be a little bit of a slow month from what we have heard in the past, but we have always had good luck with the captains we have chose.

Caught some red snappers, but it’s out of season so they were all throwbacks. Very good triggerfish, Ruby, red lips, and Spanish mackerel caught.

We taught a ton of fish just not keepers! March isn’t the best time and we knew it would be tough.

Without a doubt, book with Southern Sun Fishing Charters. Even with such an overcast, and being a foggy day, Captain Charlie took the time to hit multiple points to make sure he put us on the fish.

Just know what you can catch in the season you’re booking. That’ll set the appropriate expectations for the day.

We had no trouble catching fish because our boat captain is very knowledgeable and knew where the fish were biting.

Bring work gloves, we caught so many so quickly that I developed blisters. Captain Parker is young but, don't doubt his expertise. He is very polite and professional!!

No big fish, but still plenty of action with smaller sized keepers. Little rough waters the day we went out.

The Alabama Gulf Coast is a Good Fisherman's Paradise. Whether you like backwater or gulf fishing the variety is there.

Definitely go with a good charter captain like Charlie with Southern Sun Charters. Charlie grew up in the area fishing with his Dad and knows where the fish are.

6 hours minimum. We had to get 30 Miles offshore to find our meat but if taking home filets is your goal this is the place

Weather was perfect this morning. Best to take the morning trip when the water is calmer and it’s cooler.

Caught multiple species of fish and just enjoy what you do catch, don’t come expecting a monster, just appreciate what hits the line
