What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Orange Beach, Alabama for the first time?

Try to go when the wind is calmer. We could not go as far out to the better fishing area fir fish in season. We caught a huge amount of snapper that was not in season. Lots of fun though.

I loved fishing in October. It was a pleasant day on the water and not many tourists (except me fishing).

Great week in Orange Beach. Enjoyed the trip and all the staff was great. Would make it a must the next time in town!!

Captain Ritchie is great with first timers. My daughter and granddaughter (14) had never been sea fishing before. He took great care of them while providing instruction and encouragement!

Wait till late September-March. It was a little hot towards the end and our Captain advised us this time will be better.

Be open to just enjoying the catching. We didn’t end up with any fish we could keep or eat but catching was the fun of it. And releasing it directly to a friendly dolphin was more fun anyway!

Start with the six hour trip . Although you may want to fish all day six hours is a long time on the boat with women and children. It can get pretty hot. And six hours of action will wear you out

Set realistic expectations, prepare for hot weather, bring enough food and drink, sunscreen, towelettes, tip money- don’t expect sport fishing, trolling, or in shore experience.

The checking time was confusing , there were not signs that we were supposed to do it . The captan was very sweet and friendly ! Overall we had fun !

Find a reputable marina and captain. Read multiple reviews before you make your choice. Talk to your captain and make sure yall have the same expectations for the trip.

The fish are smart, though we saw tons of them below the boat most weren’t biting. Switch up the bait to throw them off.

Call Capt Chase Newton and book a trip on the 65' fishing boat named "No Doubt." We had an absolute blast and caught lots of fish

I would recommend giving Hey Babe a try! Capt Mark did a great job along with his daughter Lucy! Tough weather day but they got us on the snapper and we had a great time.

If its your first time, talk to your captain about what you can experience with the amount of time you chose for your charter and just go to have a good time.

Get a good guide. Someone who knows the best spots makes a world of difference. (And watch out for alligators in freshwater. We saw 3 on our first bass trip)

If you are even considering going, just do it. Mid-June was great for Red Snapper. We went back to the condo and immediately fried fish. It was very good.

We are very amateur, so we were just happy we caught anything. Weather was nice and we had a great time.

if planning a trip for the first time, i would definately pay close attention to the weather and come little later in the spring when the weather is better.

Listen to your Captain! No matter where you have fished before, the fish here take some skill to get them to the boat!

Make sure you bring a jacket! It is absolutely beautiful on the water, but gets cold due to the wind as you’re zipping through the water!

Inshore fishing you’ll be targeting mostly black snapper in the summer. If the weather is calm you might go offshore for Spanish mackeral

Show up ready to fish hard your entire trip and be prepared to have some good laughs and go home tired from reeling in the big ones.

Only average because we didn't catch any fish but probably because we couldn't go out til later in the day! We had a blast just being on the boat and shrimping. The dolphins were amazing!

The weather is unpredictable in March so be prepared to be flexible with plans. Offshore fishing could turn into an inland excursion overnight, and the fish may or may not cooperate.

You have to book with Captain Bill. He was awesome and made our trip so much fun. We caught fish when the boats around us wasnt. Very knowledgeable.

The water is shallow for half day trip. You spend most of your fishing time getting to fishing spot.
